One of the best things about building a new modular home is the ability to choose a design that perfectly suits your family, lifestyle and needs.

When you build with us, there are three easy ways you can do this – select a home from our large range of standard designs, customise one of our standard designs, or design your own dream home from the ground up.

To help you discover the best path for you, in this article we’ll discuss the process and share the pros and cons of each of the three options.

Choose a Standard Design

Our large range of standard designs include compact two-bedroom floor plans, right up to luxury four-bedroom homes, and everything in between. Within our standard range you’ll also find designs with a distinctly modern look, as well as those with a classic, traditional charm.

Once you’ve chosen a design that matches your style, budget and needs, it’s time to add a few personal touches to really make it your own. During your colour consultation you’ll pick your fittings, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, lighting and more, from the many choices of colours, finishes and materials in the standard inclusions. At this point you can also choose to upgrade certain areas to add class and enhance your lifestyle. Our display homes are a great example of how amazing our standard designs (with a few well-chosen upgrades) can look.

Pros: Fastest design option, economical, flexibility with design features.

Cons: May need to compromise on your ideal layout.

Customise a Standard Design

If you’ve found a home you love and have a few ideas for changes that would fit your family better, customising a standard design could be the way to go. With any of our floor plans, you can add or remove rooms, change the layout, flip the design and more. This process follows the standard design steps listed above, however, you’ll also meet with the design team to go over the layout changes you have in mind.

Some fine examples of customised standard designs at their best can be seen in our completed projects. The Buxton, Daylesford and Somerville projects in particular have all been elevated to really special homes thanks to some thoughtful changes to capture views, enhance lifestyle and maximise the enjoyment of their new homes.

Pros: Affordable way to customise, can adjust layout to suit block.

Cons: Adds a little more time to project while design is drafted and will incur extra costs.

Design Your Home from Scratch

On the other hand, if you have your own unique vision in mind, we can help you turn it into reality. Whether you have plans already drawn up, or a bunch of ideas swirling around inside your head, our design team will work with you to create your dream home.

A wonderful example of a home that has been designed with love from the ground up is our Patonga Beach project. Our clients had a clear picture in mind of what they wanted to achieve, and it has been perfectly been executed. The end result is a beautiful home that is the star of the neighbourhood.

Pros: Create your dream home exactly as you imagine it.

Cons: Will add extra time and cost to the overall project.

Your Dream Home is Within Reach

Whatever you image your dream home to be, with the right support, advice and skills, it’s possible to make it a reality. So, whether you fall in love with a standard design, add some customisations to suit or design it from scratch, putting in the time during the design phase pays off big time in the long run.
