If you love to entertain, there’s nothing better than relaxing with family and friends at home.

Whether you’re hosting a small get-together or large celebration, designing a modular home that has the space to entertain in style and comfort, means you can make the most of every special occasion.

The inclusion of some clever design features can turn your new modular home into the ideal place to host everything from a relaxed summer barbeque to a huge Christmas lunch with the entire family.

So, with the warmer weather here and the festive season fast approaching, read on to discover our top tips to help you build a modular home that’s perfect for entertaining.

Open-Plan Living

Open-plan designs allow for plenty of natural light, so they feel spacious and bright which creates a welcoming atmosphere. With your kitchen, living and dining areas combined in the one space, you can chat and socialise even while you’re prepping food or cooking.

Plus, it’s easy to keep the drinks and snacks topped up as the fridge and pantry are close at hand.

While open-plan living is great for larger gatherings, it can easily be adapted to suit smaller groups by using furniture and rugs to define the area and add a cosy feel.

Well-Chosen Features

The inclusion of some well-chosen features and upgrades in your home design adds style and ambiance to your entertaining space.

Buxton- bi-fold doors and deck

Our Buxton project features large picture windows and bi-fold doors that open out to the deck, which lets in plenty of natural light and captures the stunning surrounding views.

The large fireplace featured in our Daylesford project, provides warmth and is a lovely focal point on a chilly night. An island bench with stools is a popular inclusion as it connects the kitchen to the living space, as seen in our Metung project.

Bring the Outdoors In

Outdoor entertaining is a joy over the sunny holiday months, so make sure your new home is set up to make the most of it.

The simple open deck of our four-bedroom Rye project is easily accessible through sliding doors and is a great spot for a relaxed barbeque or party under the stars.

If you’d like a space you can enjoy throughout the year, an undercover outdoor room is ideal.

And with the addition of bi-fold doors that open from the living zone, it extends the size of your entertaining space instantly, as seen in our Somerville project.

Flexible Spaces

The ability to change your space as needed is a big plus, so be mindful of this when designing and furnishing your new home. Rooms that allow you to switch freely between everyday living and entertaining are ideal.

Features such as bi-fold doors that extend your space outdoors and open-plan living in place of formal dining rooms give you the ability to be flexible to suit the style and size of the occasion.

Quality Kitchens

When you’re entertaining a crowd, your kitchen will get a good workout, so a well-designed space is essential.

Plenty of bench space and quality appliances will help you prepare and cook a memorable meal.

And when you choose a design which includes a butler’s pantry (or customise another design to add one in) you’ll have ample space to prepare while also keeping the mess out of sight.

With the Right Design, Entertaining is Easy

When you build a new home, it’s important to find a design that suits your lifestyle – so if you like to entertain, look for a floorplan that is open and flexible.

Plus, when you include some carefully selected upgrades such as bi-fold doors, decks and fireplaces, hosting will be a breeze and your guests are sure to be impressed.
